This program teaches students how to become professional sports broadcasters. Students will learn to create sports podcasts based on local, college, or professional sports, and how to broadcast in play-by-play style.
For the first few classes, students would spend time in the classroom learning the steps involved in creating a podcast. The process starts in preproduction where students decide on a topic, decide on guests, create an intro/outro, and then gather sounds to use during the podcast. During production, students will record audio utilizing professional grade equipment. In post production, students will learn how to edit and post the podcasts.
Learning how to broadcast play by play is a difficult skill, but one that can be mastered with preparation and practice. Students will practice broadcasting professional and college events like football, basketball, and baseball. If students excel with play by play, students will be able to broadcast school or local high school events.
This enrichment is available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 2:45PM to 3:45PM.
